Professionally, I have been a software engineer for
way too long. However, it has been a rewarding and an
interesting career at times. Several times I’ve thought
about perusing a career in the music business.
Unfortunately, I probably could not continue to live at
my current life style if I changed careers.
Music is a real passion in my life and there was always music in my home when I was growing up. I was
fortunate to hear a wide range of music that evolved from the 60s to the 80’s. My parents put me in a
music school when I was about 10 years old. I still remember my first lesson ... I was hooked and
wanted to play rock & roll. It wasn’t very long before I started playing songs by Zeppelin, the Beatles,
Crosby Stills Nash, Hendrix, Santana, the Eagles and many others. It has been a long time since I’ve
started playing guitar ... and I still find myself striving to be a better musician. Self improvement seems
to be a life long journey.
This website has been created for everyone who has an interest in guitars. Currently the site in new and
is still evolving. Some of this items covered will include instructional videos, music theory, basic music
lessons, music videos, and more.
It’s unfortunate that musicians today are noticed more for what they look like instead of what they
sound like. Years ago all the musicians that I heard on the radio were all better than me on the guitar,
now most of them are not. The real talent out there has suffered long enough. If you can’t play the guitar
better than me … step aside. I want to hear the pros.
I was very fortunate to have study music for several
year under the instruction of Doug Datwyler. Doug
studied with Jackie King and Herb Ellis, and then
continued his musical education at North Texas State
University under Jack Petersen. From there, Doug re-
located to Los Angeles where he was hired by Grammy
award-winning group The Commodores. Doug warned
me several times about how tough it is to make a living
in the music business ... since Doug can kick my butt
on the guitar I decided to keep my day job as an
software engineer.
